In honor of Handmade Art fair I am giving away one of my dolls!

Harvey measures 21 inches tall from the top of his head to the tips of his toes and if I measure to the tip of his hat he is 28 inches. I made him from osnaburg fabric. His eyes are painted. Nose and cheeks are wool felt. Whiskers are linen thread. His clothes are cotton prints. I made his corn from cotton chenille and osnaburg wrapped with rusty wire. His rake is a natural twig with rusty wire. He has a vintage button on his shirt.

Renee of BirchBerry Farms has a new store and it is chocked full of Bethany Lowe Tinsel and paper garlands. She also has fragrance oils, wool felt, wool doll hair and lots more coming! I can't wait! I have bought from her and she's quick to ship.

Oh and if you've never seen Bethany Lowe tinsel in person....oh my...it's beautiful. I have both the spool tinsel and sleeve tinsel. One is thicker than the other but love both for different applications on my dolls. I also ordered the paper garland....BEAUTIFUL! I bought the ivory. I used it on my bunny in pink I did a couple of weeks ago.

This is Miss Cora Bunny after being stained with walnut ink. All three pieces were stained with the walnut ink. The solution I used was stronger than I usually use but I was in the mood for super grunge this week :)

well.....to my surprise we decide to finish the outside walls of my laundry room/work space. Insulation does wonders! LoL It's so much warmer in there. When hubs gets another long weekend we'll do the ceilings and paint. Then another long weekend and the floor. WOOHOO! But for now...I am extremely happy with the walls, unpainted and all. We used wood beadboard paneling so it's not so bad and when we get the time to paint it will feel so nice and cottagy.

So.....that's where I've been. I finally got my work space back in order and hope to work tomorrow.
Oh and I'm pulling the pink bunny. The more I look at her the more I think she might be too bright so to the grunging station she goes :)

Oh and when I get my work space completely finished I'll post a picture ;)

Keeper of the Snow Painting

Well......I painted this to sell but after I finished it I couldn't part with it. It's rare I keep anything I create but the colors of this painting work so well with my new ROBINS EGG BLUE ;) that I had to hang it in my white bookshelves. It's perfect. It pulls the color over where I need it. Sigh..... I will leave it up year round. I may do another one to sell. We'll see.

Oh and what is cool I used the some of the 3M multipurpose transparency film with Liquidtex Matte Medium to do the lettering. Didn't turn out perfect but it looks aged so that, in my opinion, made it perfect :)

Oh I love Robins Egg Blue

New items in my WSOAPP Shoppe. I had fun this week creating these. I so love the new robin's egg blue color.

I painted two accent walls in my living room and am getting the husband to make me a bench in the same color to pull the color across the room. LOVE that color. I'm pulling it together with a touch of Red Tomato and a beach Sand color, whites and creams. We also decided we needed to hang the flat screen on the wall so we did and I love it! I have all this room now. It's unbelievable. And another big surprise is how much better the picture and sound of the tv is up on the wall. I still have to paint the cord hiding stripes (I don't know what you call these) the same color as the wall so they blend into the background. Easy breezy. Just need to get my bottom up and do it :P

I hope everyone is staying warm! It's suppose to hit ZERO here tomorrow night and last for a couple of days. I'm in the south and we have cold temperatures but nothing like this. The air is so dry. I turned on my cool mist vaporizer to keep some moisture in the air. The sinuses really appreciated it :)

Breastfeeding....is not shameful

ABC News ran a story about Facebook's ban of breastfeeding photos. Go here to view video.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Is all I could think when I first started listening. Facebook apparently had people complain because of the photos. People listen....a woman has mammary glands for the purpose of breastfeeding babies. That is there sole purpose. They were not put there for entertainment but society has deemed them as such. I don't hear people screaming OMG! There is a man showing his nipples! The Sin of it all! Then putting a ban on all bare-chested photos of men.

There are You Tube videos and forums wanting to ban breastfeeding because they find it offensive. Just what little I surfed the web on the subject there are places who have banned breastfeeding.

When in society did we lose our sense of God-given nurturing and turn something so natural into "offensive". Perhaps people need to get their heads out of the gutter and see the beauty of things rather than seeing everything as being sinful or wrong.

Time to grow up and realize that "boobies" were not created to please the eye but to nurture a life.

Breastfeeding mothers.....I applaud you!

Hormone Replacement

I feel compelled to comment on this. I just heard on the news that Hormone Replacement increases a woman's chance for breast cancer.

From what I read there is a huge difference between Synthetic Hormone Replacement and Natural/Bioidentical Hormone Replacement. The news didn't mention this.

My MD recommended I read Suzanne Somers book BREAKTHROUGH....very informative reading. The book are Suzanne's interviews with doctors on the subject of being healthy.

I have had one heck of a week and today when I found that my sweet, sweet little poochie had hiked his leg on a handpainted cabinet. One that my husband had made and I had done decorative painting on.........I almost lost my mind. Then as I was cleaning up the mess I bumped my head on the corner of a table. Well... that was the icing on the cake and I just sat there and cried. I know it's ridiculous. So after I bawled for a few minutes with a little PMS mixed in I pulled myself together and started cleaning my work room of which I haven't been able to be in for the last week. It was a mess. I heard a "tic, tic, tic" sound and looked out and it was sleeting. Didn't think much more about it until 10 minutes later I looked and saw the entire lawn covered in snow. The flakes were huge. I could not help but smile and felt God was giving me a little bit sunshine. Today....felt like Christmas. It gave me a whole new outlook. The Christmas tree looked brighter, the pooch was a sweetie again.

God has a way of speaking to us. We just have to listen.

I don't know if I mentioned it before but I have been going to the chiropractor. Fun. Fun. Actually it hasn't been bad. I do have some "arthritis" in my neck (hey! isn't arthritis an old people disease?!!!) and an issue in my lower back. He feels he can help me out. I've been good until he started working on my low back and I've been a little sore. He always tells me if he's "moving bone". Does that not sound just horrible?

Anyways....along with the cracking of the spine I've been working on a few dolls. Seems like I should have more accomplished by now but it's just not working out that way. Oh and click on the images to enlarge them. Also here is my WSOAPP Shoppe Link

O'Christmas Tree

First round of tree decorating. I will redo the tree numerous times before I get it like I want it. I like it when I first did it and now I'm thinking ACK! I wish I could find a slim line tree that looks natural. "Buy a real one then goofy" you might be saying but I like the twinkly lights and I like having them on and not worrying about a fire. Sigh. But I do love the smell of a live Christmas tree. It's divine.

Here are some of my favorite ornaments. I'm hoping to have a tutorial on how to create your own antique looking silver beads asap. Easy and cheap.
Does anyone else redo their tree ? I'll post one of my tree when I am happy with it :) Stay tuned. ;) ha! then it will be time to take it down once I get it just the way I want it. LoL

'This is me! Am I freakishly scary or what? I'm a grave digger and the name of my business Weplantem Funeral Home. MUAHH AHH AHHHHH People were scared of me....can you believe that? I wonder why??? LoL Most didn't know who I was until I told them. hehe I bought the suit at Goodwill and sprayed it with adhesive then quickly dusted it with Cinnamon. I did the shirt, tie and hat the same way.
This is my husband. LMAO!! He was hilarious! He chose the color of scarf and bag to go with his ensemble. Did a good job I say! But look at him...he's such a ho. LOL! shhhh..... don't tell him I said that! LoL!!
My sweeties! My daughter Lauren and my Son in law Cliff. Lauren is a witch and Cliff is the toothfairy. He kept looking at my "pearly whites" as he called them. Should I be concerned? LoL Heads up....Lauren really does not have red eyes...at least that's the story...BUAHH AHH AHHHH

Cleaning house and working on some new things. Geez, how quickly things get out of hand. I decided to move all my Halloween/Fall items over to Ebay. Am I the only one that it seems to take forever to get an item listed? I check, double check then still end up having to "revise" the item after posting it. LoL, what a loon!

I've also been creating my paper items for WSOAPP's First Anniversary October 2nd! I can't believe it's already been a whole year! Unbelievable. So for our First Anniversary we're celebrating Paper. I have two new items I'll be listing in my WSOAPP Shoppe on October 2nd. I love working with paper and paperclay. I never thought I would get into scrapbooking and I haven't but LOVE all the paper "stuff" that is part of the whole thing. I've caught myself buying inking pads, rubber stamps, paper, "oh look at those cute little things" and I've got to have them. It's like some kind of freakin' addiction LoL Just curious....am I the only one whose eyes glaze over at the sight of rubber stamps and ink pads? I bought the cutest Santa rubber stamp. Vintage looking. Can't wait to use it! I nabbed it when Hobby Lobby had their half price sale and well....I bought more than one rubber stamp but lets not tell the hubs...okay;) ha! It's okay, he already knows. I can't hold it in when I get home with a bag full of goodies like that. He just looks at me like I'm a kid who just got back from the candy store and he gives an o'so slight eyeroll....as if to say "whatever". LoL I usually say "guess how much I saved!" before I tell him how much I spent. hehe All in the wording.... Sad thing is he's caught on and as soon as I say that he's "how much did you spend?!" He's learned it's never a good sign when I'm blurting out my savings first. Anyhoo...... trying to look innocent now ;)

Soooo....I've also been working in Soy wax. Fun! Fun! A little messy as I don't have a clue as to what I'm doing but after many, many tries I'm pleased with the results. Keeping a couple and giving the rest as gifts for now. Wax Pantry Cakes is what I call them.

Lauren's (SassafrasCo) Primitive Halloween Bear

My daugher Lauren made this bear from a Sweet Meadow's Farm pattern with her own embellishments. I LOVE him!

His description...

Sitting he is 17 1/4 inches tall from the top of his hat to his bottom. He is 10 inches wide from foot to foot. He is made from brown fur felt. His eyes are acrylic buttons and his nose is thread. His arms and legs are sewn on with rusty bells. His hat and tie are made from coffee-stained green pumpkin and ghost cotton fabric. There is black fringe around his hat and green fringe around his neck. His pumpkin is made from muslin and is 3 1/2 x 4 inches. It has black and green fringe wrapped around its tree limb stem with Sweet Annie tucked in as well. It is sewn to his belly as Mr. Bear is meant for sitting.

I had lots of fun creating her. I loved working with the gourd head. Very cool.

A little info about her....

Gourdie is 29 inches tall from the tip of her gourd head to the tips of her toes. Her body, arms and legs are made from osnaburg fabric that I stained with Walnut Ink.

I made her head from a gourd. Her eyes, nose and mouth are painted and the whole gourd sprayed with with a matte sealer. Her dress, ruffle collar and pantaloons are made from cotton prints. Her dress is trimmed with rickrack. Around her dress collar I have stitched lots of rusty bells. She has a wooden start stitched to her dress right below a rusty bell. Her shoes are painted and accented with homespun and rusty bells.

Did my Muse go on vacation?

Do you ever have one of those days/weeks it seems all artistic expression has left you? Ack! I have been dragging my butt trying to be creative this week and finally today I felt desperate as if all artistic hope was gone I made myself show you what I've been up to this week hoping that it would spark something. It helped a little. Just touching my old jars of glitter and feeling the different medias in my hands did seem to help. I'll go read my horoscope and see what it says :P It will probably read "Muse on vacation. Save yourself the ordeal and just go take a nap".

I found this old chair at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago. Bought it originally to use at my computer desk but it just doesn't look quite right so I decided to paint it pink and see where my Muse decides to take me SHOULD SHE DECIDE TO RETURN! Good grief. I don't like this feeling. Anyways....onward and upward! I think I'll go watch a movie and just forget about it for awhile. Perhaps that's the key to it all.....?

Just SOLD on Etsy!

She is 26 inches tall from the bend of her hat to the tips of her toes. I made her from osnaburg fabric dyed with walnut ink. Her eyes and mouth are painted and her nose is needle sculpted. Her nair is wool felted to her head.

I made her hat from osnaburg which I painted and standed. I stuffed to the bend of the hat so it would stand up nicely. The hat is stitched to her head.

I painted the bodice of her dress orange with black polka dots then sanded it well then stitched fringy yarn around her collar. Her skirt is a sheer fabric that I stitched more of the fringy yarn onto. The sheer fabric has flocked like moons and stars on it. Her pantaloons are black cotton fabric.

I painted her stockings and gloves. Her gloves are accented with a fuzzy trim.

Pumpkin Witch and her Cat wand

She is about 28 inches tall from the bend in her hat to the tips of her toes.
I made her from painted osnaburg fabric that I also stained with walnut ink. Her eyes and mouth are painted and nose is needle sculpted. Her dress is made from walnut ink dyed printed cottons trim with grungy orange trim and a very old vintage button. Her hat is made from painted osnaburg and stitched to her head. Her shoes are painted on and I used thread for laces.
Her Cat wand is made from painted osnaburg and a natural twig. The cats eyes are stitched and he has been grunged with walnut ink as well. He is attached to Pumpkin Witch's arm with rusty wire.

It's suppose to rain tomorrow so hopefully I can get these finished and listed. Barney Bee

Doesn't he just scream warm weather! I had so much fun making him. I used to name my dolls but found so many of my customers were renaming them. While I was making him I kept calling him Barney. He's little Mr.Personality.
He is 26 inches tall from the top of his head to the tips of his toes (not including his antennas).
I made him from osnaburg fabric. He's been painted, stained and sanded. His nose is stitched on and his eyebrows are needle sculpted. His eyes and mouth are painted.
His antennas are made from heavy gauge wire with rusty bells accented with a grungy black trim. His neck, arms and knees are accented with the same trim. I made his pants from prim dyed homespun. His wings are made from heavy gauge wire and a mesh that I believe is copper. I accented the edge of his wings with a grungy mixture of cinnamon and sweet annie. His stinger is heavy gauge wire. I made his flower from prim cottons, wire and paint. It is attached to a natural twig. The flower is attached to his hands with thread.

WSOAPP Fabric Swap Launch

This week our WSOAPP group is having it's Fabric Swap Launch on eBay! It's so much fun! We each were given a name. One person sent me fabric and I send another person fabric and so on. We make a doll from the fabric we received and another doll from same fabric we sent. We don't know who got who except for Cindy of Pywackit Primitives who is our game coordinator. So we scourer through the listings matching the fabrics. It is great fun. The group really got into it! Take a peek when you get a chance. Lots of wonderful listings to feast your eyes on and perhaps make a few purchases ;) If you are interested in either of these dolls click on their picks and you can take a read of their descriptions and place a bid if you choose :) !!

Benjamin Franklin and his Turkey

I LOVED making this piece and the history behind Benjamin Franklin and his desire for the Turkey to be the United States National Bird rather than the Eagle is most interesting. His banner reads "Where Liberty is, there is my Country. Benjamin Franklin, 1783"
I remember while I was making this piece feeling such a sense of pride for my Country, our Founding Fathers and the Constitution.
I made the turkey from muslin which I painted and then grunged and grunged some more with lots of cinnamon. He is mounted to a wooden base and the turkeys legs are made from wire. Benjamin's head is made from paper mache that I sculpted by hand and painted with acrylics and sealed. His hair is a wool blend yarn. His body is made from muslin.
